VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

From the “Star Trek” franchise to “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” one of Hollywood’s prominent make-up artists lives right here in the Northwest.

Two-time Emmy Award winning make-up artist Michael Key has brought characters to life since the 80s.

As a former motion picture artist, he talks to MORE about his experience working on the 1990s comedy “Coneheads” and the film “Planet of the Apes.” Though he’s worked on numerous sets, he says his favorite project was with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He gave the main singer snake hair for the “Soul to Squeeze” music video.

Key spends his time educating make-up artists around the world. He founded “Make-Up Artist Magazine,” a magazine for artists in the industry. This year it celebrates its 20th year Anniversary.
