Rescue crews searching for lost hiker near Oneonta Gorge

COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE, OR (KPTV) -

Search and rescue crews are responding to the Multnomah Falls area to search for a lost hiker.

According to Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, a friend of the hiker called 911 after he spoke with the hiker who said he had become separated from his spouse while hiking near Oneonta Gorge, was lost and didn't know where he was.

MCSO Deputies responded to the Oneonta Trailhead at about 6:30 p.m. and made contact with the hiker's spouse.

MCSO Search & Rescue team and the MCSO Trail Hornet team were activated.

Just before 9 p.m. a text was sent by the lost hiker to his friend. Search Coordinators were able to confirm a location of the hiker near the Bull Run Watershed.

MCSO deputies are enroute to the hikers location.

The hiker, a 58-year-old man, is said to have a sore knee but no other injuries.
