PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A track improvement project is going to cause major disruptions to MAX lines starting next month.

Tri-Met released a preview of the Rose Quarter MAX Improvements Project Wednesday.

Crews will be pulling up tracks to improve switches, track-beds and alignment.

The project runs from August 21 to September 3 and will disrupt the MAX Blue, Green and Red lines, with trains coming less frequently throughout the system.

Tri-Met also noted that trains will also likely be extremely crowded and three stations, Rose Quarter Transit Center, Convention Center and Northeast 7th Avenue, will close during the project.

According to Tri-Met the project will increase reliability and help keep trains running on time.

August monthly passes went on sale as well Wednesday, but Tri-Met noted because of the disruptions some riders may want to buy books of tickets instead.
