Southwest Airlines passengers endure long lines due to computer glitch

Posted: Updated:

Southwest Airlines passengers at Portland International Airport are still feeling the aftereffects of Wednesday’s computer malfunction that canceled several flights nationwide.

Although the glitch has been resolved, travelers still saw long check-in lines Thursday morning.

The computer glitch at 10 a.m. Wednesday grounded more than 200 flights across the country, creating a major headache for many travelers.

Airline representatives said at one point, all check-in and baggage check machines were down. Employees were forced to check in passengers using paper tickets only.

Southwest Airlines released a formal apology Thursday morning, stating that this is not the service travelers should expect.

As of Thursday morning, three flights out of Portland are still canceled.
