Woman hit by car in NE Portland, suffers life-threatening injuries

Portland police are investigating a crash where a 25-year-old woman received life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car Thursday night.

Police responded to the crash at 6:45 p.m. at Northeast 8th Avenue and Prescott Street.

When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from traumatic injuries. Portland Fire said the woman was conscious and taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, stayed on scene and is cooperating with police.

Preliminary information indicates that the driver was traveling westbound on Prescott Street and the woman was crossing southbound at 8th Avenue at the time of the crash.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is investigating the crash.

The intersection of NE 8th Avenue and Prescott Street will be closed for several hours.
