Police ID 37-year-old woman hit by car, critically injured in NE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 37-year-old woman was hit by a car and critically injured in northeast Portland on Thursday night.

Emergency crews responded to Northeast 8th Avenue and Prescott Street at 6:45 p.m.

Heather Ann Ackles was found suffering from traumatic injuries. She remained in the hospital Friday evening.

Police said she was crossing southbound at 8th Avenue when she was hit by a car heading west on Prescott Street.

Police said the 73-year-old man driving the car remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Once the investigation is complete, it will be presented to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review.
