MOUNT HOOD, OR (KPTV) -

The bodies of two Kentucky men missing since 2014 were found off of the Dog River Trail in the Mount Hood National Forest, according to the Hood River County Sheriff's Office.

Hood River Co. Sheriff's Office said they were notified about the discovery of the bodies around 7 p.m. Thursday when workers with the the US Forest Service were conducting a survey and found the bodies.

Investigators were able to determine the bodies were those of John K. Wood and Jason A. Wood.

On Sept. 5, 2014, Oregon State Police began a missing person's investigation for the two men after their vehicle was found unattended on Highway 35, north of the Dog River Trailhead.

A search operation was started by the Sheriff's Office but they were unable to locate the two men.

Investigators were able to positively identify the bodies on Friday.

The investigation is ongoing, however the Sheriff's Office said evidence at the scene indicates the men died as a result of a murder/suicide.
