Scott Canyon Fire 10 percent contained, almost 33K acres

GILLIAM COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

The Scott Canyon Fire is 10 percent contained Saturday according to fire officials and has grown to 32,850 acres.

According to firefighters, the Scott Canyon Fire began Thursday in Gilliam County.

On Saturday, crews used three helicopters, three single-engine tankers and one fire boss that scoops water out of large lakes or rivers to fight the fire.

According to fire crews, The John Day River and Cottonwood Canyon State Park remain open at this time.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but is believed to be human-caused.
