GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

Kids in the Gresham area have a new playground thanks to more than 200 volunteers and the Salvation Army.

Volunteers worked to build the playground at the Salvation Army Gresham Corps on Southeast 194th Avenue.

Foresters Financial and Kaboom, a nonprofit organization dedicated to kids, have worked together to bring safe playgrounds to nearly130 locations.

Three of those locations are here in Oregon.

The Salvation Army says the playground will last 15 years, and hopes it promotes kids to get out into their community.

The playground’s design was based on children’s drawings from an event in May.
