Crews make good progress on the Scott Canyon Fire

CONDON, OR (KPTV) -

The Scott Canyon Fire has grown to 33,587 acres and is 75% contained, according to the Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch Center.

The fire is burning on Bureau of Land Management and Gilliam County protected lands, and has burned within 200 feet of Highway 206 according to fire officials.

Crews were able to make good progress on the fire by using dozers, air resources and burnout operations.  

Fire crews will continue to monitor and secure all lines and begin mop up along the edges.

The fire went into Cottonwood Canyon State Park for a short time., but the fire was contained to only 5 acres.

Fire crews said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
