MEDFORD, OR (KPTV/AP) -

Deputies found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound at his home in the Applegate area in Jackson County and his niece was arrested on manslaughter charges.

Aisling Tucker Moore-Reed, 26, is scheduled to be arraigned in court Wednesday.

Deputies responded to the 7200 block of Thompson Creek Road in the Applegate area, just inside the Jackson County border, at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday.

They arrived to find a man dead who appeared to have been shot. He was identified as 63-year-old Shane Patrick Moore. Deputies said he lived at that location.

Detectives with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Medford Police Department assumed the investigation and Moore-Reed was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree manslaughter.

Court records show the uncle was charged with harassment and misdemeanor assault in an incident involving his niece last year. He was scheduled to stand trial in September.

A probable cause affidavit for Moore-Reed's arrest was sealed Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports Moore-Reed, known professionally as Tucker Reed, worked briefly as a reporter for the newspaper earlier this year.

A possible motive for the shooting was not immediately released by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
