AURORA, OR (KPTV) -

A woman serving in the U.S. Navy stationed on the USS Gridley in Everett, Washington was killed in a crash near Aurora on Sunday, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies identified the woman Wednesday as 25-year-old Samantha Stover.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Ehlen Road Northeast and Butteville Road Northeast on Sunday afternoon.

Investigators said a car was heading north on Butteville Road when it failed to stop at the intersection. The car collided with a westbound truck pulling a horse trailer on Ehlen Road.

The driver of the car, whose name has not been released, was seriously injured and flown to a Portland hospital. A condition update was not provided by deputies.

Stover was a passenger in the car and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The people in the pickup were taken to the hospital and deputies said they were expected to survive. The two horses in the trailer were attended to by a veterinarian at the crash scene Sunday.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate and reported that additional information about this case would likely not be released for at least a few more weeks.
