Timbers sign veteran goalkeeper Chris Konopka

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Timbers signed veteran goalkeeper Chris Konopka, the club announced Thursday.

Konopka, 31, began his professional career with the Kansas City Wizards in 2007. He also played for the New York Red Bulls, Philadelphia Union and Toronto FC.

Konopka made a career-high 21 appearances, all starts, with Toronto in 2015.

Konopka most recently played for Ross County FC in the Scottish Premiership, winners of the 2015-16 Scottish League Cup.

Previously, Konopka played for Bohemian FC of the League of Ireland in 2008 and spent two additional seasons in Ireland with Sporting Fingal in 2009 and Waterford United in 2010.

Earlier this month, the Timbers transferred goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey to Norwegian club Rosenborg BK.
