Car crashes into power pole in NE Portland, knocks out power to thousands

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A car slammed into a power pole in Northeast Portland Friday morning, knocking out power to thousands of customers.

Police said the crash took place at Northeast Halsey Street and 65th  Avenue around 2:45 a.m.

According to Pacific Power, about 2,356 customers were without power as of 3 a.m.

Crews were working at the scene to repair the pole, which was snapped in half. 

As of 7:30 a.m. 1,346 customers are still without power.

Pacific Power estimates power restoration around 9:30 a.m.

Halsey Street from 65th to 68th Avenues will be closed for most of the morning. Drivers should avoid the area.
