ASTORIA, OR (KPTV) -

An Astoria High School teacher is facing charges including luring a minor for his contact with a former student, according to police.

Matthew Todd Love, 52, of Astoria, was arrested Friday after he was indicted by a Clatsop County Grand Jury.

Astoria police received a report alleging that Love made contact with a former student "for the purpose of inducing a minor to engage in sexual conduct."

Luring a minor is a Class C felony.

Love is also facing the charge of official misconduct. Police said that charge is the result of meeting with the former student.

Love was placed on administrative leave by the Astoria School District in May.

Investigators said the minor in this case was not a student in the Astoria School District and does not live in the area. Prior to teaching in Astoria, Love worked at other school districts on the Oregon coast.

Astoria detectives said they believe there could be additional victims. Any current or former students of Love who believe he engaged in similar conduct is asked to contact Detective Thomas Litwin at 503-298-2547 or tlitwin@astoria.or.us.

According to The Daily Astorian, Love is a "prominent Oregon author" whose work celebrates the Oregon coast, with his students often serving as inspiration for his stories.
