Police: Domestic violence suspect arrested for assault, DUII after hitting patrol car

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A domestic violence suspect who attempted to drive away from officers hit a patrol car and was later arrested on charges including DUII, according to police.

Police responded to reports of a man and woman fighting near Southeast 174th and Powell Boulevard at 4:16 p.m. Saturday.

Officers determined the woman was a victim of domestic violence. The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Renne Leonard Carter, attempted to drive away from the scene, according to police.

Officers said he hit the rear bumper of a parked Portland Police Bureau K-9 Unit car. A dog in the car was not injured.

Carter was caught as he pulled up to a home on the 6700 block of Southeast 70th Avenue.

He was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), failure to perform the duties of a driver (hit and run), reckless driving and DUII.
