FOREST GROVE, OR (KPTV) -

Investigators determined cigarettes in a trash can started a fire that led to the death of a 64-year-old man at a Forest Grove mobile home park.

Firefighters responded to the Rose Grove RV Park on the 3800 block of Pacific Avenue on Saturday night.

Investigators said a 64-year-old man who lives in the home called 911, but he died while on the phone with emergency dispatchers.

Firefighters said he lives by himself and has a medical condition that limits his mobility. The man's name has not been released.

On Sunday, Forest Grove Fire & Rescue reported that the cause of the fire was determined to be cigarettes dumped into a trash can.

Forest Grove Fire Capt. Tony Carter was taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, but he was expected to be OK.
