A 25-year-old woman on a bicycle died after being hit by a box truck in southeast Portland.

Emergency crews responded to Southeast 82nd Avenue and Flavel Street at 8:03 a.m. Saturday.

Lydia Ann Johnson was found suffering from critical injuries. Life-saving efforts were not successful and Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Johnson was riding her bicycle east on Flavel Street when a box truck, that was also eastbound on Flavel Street, turned right onto 82nd Avenue and hit her.

The 36-year-old driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said he did not show any signs of impairment.

Once the investigation is complete, the case will be presented to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review and consideration of any possible criminal charges.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Officer David Enz at 503-823-2208 or david.enz@portlandoregon.gov.

Roads were closed in the area for several hours following the crash.
