SANDY, OR (KPTV) -

A man who fired shots toward a child playing hide-and-seek was sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for time already served.

Gerald Miller pleaded guilty in July to charges of unlawful discharge of a weapon and reckless endangering.

He was arrested in March after neighbors called to report shots fired.

The father of a 12-year-old boy said his three children were playing hide-and-seek and riding ATVs on their property when the boy hid behind a group of trees across from Miller's house.

The man said Miller came outside, pointed a rifle toward his son and fired multiple rounds.

Nobody was hurt, but the family was frustrated Miller was allowed to post bail and return home.

As part of his sentencing Monday, Miller will be on supervised probation for three years.
