Woman taking photos dies after falling 90 feet to edge of North Umpqua River

DOUGLAS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A woman taking photos at the North Umpqua River in Douglas County died after falling 90 feet to the edge of the river.

Emergency crews responded to the 26000 block of North Umpqua Highway at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.

Sydney Craft, 23, of Roseburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Craft was taking photos of a man jumping into the river when she slipped and fell.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, Glide Fire District 2 and the Fire District 2 steep angle rescue team all responded to the scene.
