Another day, another report on how Portland is now among some of the most expensive U.S. cities to live in.

In its 'National Rent Report' released Monday, real estate website Zumper said the median rental price of a one-bedroom apartment in Portland rose to $1,400 in July.

That's an increase of 2.9 percent from the month before and a 5.5 percent increase over the past 12 months.

The median price of a two-bedroom unit increased 3.8 percent from the month before, landing at $1,660.

The increases land Portland at number 15 on the list of most expensive cities for renters in the U.S.

Our neighbors to the north in Seattle came in at number 9 with a median rent of $1,810.

Unsurprisingly, San Francisco retains the title of most expensive city for renters, with a one-bedroom apartment renting for a median price of $3,460.

Portland residents are increasingly feeling the pressure of rising rent prices and many have called for action from local and state governments.

In April, hundreds of people held a protest to demand an emergency rent freeze in Multnomah County.

The Portland Housing Bureau has since awarded $47 million to eight different affordable housing projects in the city and Oregon Gov. Kate Brown signed into law three bills aimed at protecting tenants.
