SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A burglar was shot and killed after breaking into a Salem home on Monday morning.

Police responded to the 1500 block of Nebraska Avenue Northeast at 8 a.m. on a report of shots fired.

Officers arrived to find one person dead at the scene. Police initially released very few details about the investigation on Monday.

On Tuesday, they identified the person who was killed as 20-year-old Anthony Brown.

Detectives said Brown and a 17-year-old boy from Keizer were burglarizing the home when a person living in the house shot Brown.

An autopsy determined Brown died of gunshot wounds.

The teen was taken into custody on the charge of first-degree burglary.

There have been no other arrests in connection with this case.

Anyone with additional information about this investigation is asked to contact the Salem Police Department at 503-588-6123.
