DEARBORN, MI (KPTV) -

Politics can be brutal, but that should not be much of a change for the winner of a Republican house primary in Michigan.

According to results from the Associated Press, Terrance Gerin won the GOP Primary for District 15 seat in the State House, taking in 38 percent of the vote.

Gerin is more widely known by his in-ring name Rhyno and is an active member of the WWE roster, appearing on the company’s SmackDown Live program.

The former Hardcore and United States champion grew up in the Dearborn area, according to his campaign bio, and has owned his home there since 2001.

Gerin, who has spent more than 20 years in the ring, campaigned on a platform of limited government.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated in March, Gerin discussed being inspired by President Ronald Reagan and needing to work on entitlement reforms.

“Social security is very important, welfare is very important, and so are Medicare and Medicaid,” he said in the interview. “But every so often we need to reform it to make sure the tax dollars are being spent wisely toward it.”

Gerin will face Abdullah Hammoud in November.
