A Lincoln City man is accused of brandishing a handgun near a school.

Police responded to reports of an armed man on the 2300 block of Northeast 21st Street at 12:48 p.m. Wednesday. The location is directly south of Oceanlake School.

During the summer, Oceanlake School hosts pre-school and serves as a child activity center.

No children were in the school at the time, as they were on a field trip, but a lockdown was ordered for staff members and maintenance workers in the building.

Officers located a man matching a description of the suspect in the area. Anthony Mark Marino, 37, was taken into custody.

Police said several witnesses positively identified him as the person with the gun.

Marino lives in the area and consented to a search of his home. Police said no gun was found, but a short time later the gun in question was located near his home.

Marino was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and menacing. According to the Lincoln County Jail, he is also facing the charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
