PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Three men who robbed a southeast Portland marijuana dispensary were caught in north Portland after running from a traffic stop, according to police.
Gang Enforcement Team officers attempted to stop a car at around 7:30 p.m. Three men in the car ran from the scene.
Police said two of the suspects were quickly caught, while the third man was found hiding in a crawl space after being spotted by an alert neighbor who called 911.
The suspects were identified as Malik Stephens, 20, Vontrell Mills, 20, and Jiante Fascan Carter, 23.
Officers stopped their car for a traffic infraction. Police said they did not know at the time that the three men were suspected of robbing a marijuana dispensary.
At 7:16 p.m., three men, one armed with a gun, robbed the Mt. Hood Wellness Center on the 11100 block of Southeast Division Street.
Surveillance footage shows two men wearing hooded sweatshirts walk into the dispensary before one of them jumped over the counter and held an employee at gunpoint, forcing him to open the cash register and the safe.
The other man then jumped over the counter as the employee was forced to the ground while the third suspect appeared to be guarding the front door.
Based on the video, the three men looked to be in and out of the dispensary in less than two minutes.
Manager Stephanie Duval said the suspects didn't get away with much, only about three ounces of pot and some cash, but that her employee is still very shaken up and stayed home from work Thursday.
"Watching the video and knowing my employee the way that I do it pulls on my heartstrings because nobody deserves to have their personal space invaded like that, let alone have a gun shoved in their face or in their side," she said. "I feel really, really bad that it happened to him and that he was here alone."
Investigators said they discovered cash, marijuana and other items connected to the robbery in the car of Stephens, Mills and Carter.
A handgun was also seized after it was found along a wall outside Jefferson High School by a community member.
Stephens, Mills and Carter were arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of first-degree robbery.
