SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A cyclist was struck by a school bus in Salem early Friday morning and investigators determined the man on the bike was intoxicated and under the influence of marijuana.

Officers with the Salem Police Department responded to the scene in the 4300 block of Fisher Road NE just before 5:00 a.m.

Michelyne Wattenbarger, 60, was driving the school bus for Oregon Child Development on Fisher Road heading north. Brent Weter, 39, of Salem, was stopped in the middle of the northbound lane when he was hit by the bus.

Investigators from the Traffic Control Unit investigated the scene. None of the 16 people on board the bus were hurt, while Weter had non-life-threatening injuries. He was also found to have a blood-alcohol level of .29 and admitted to officers that he had recently used marijuana.

Police did not issue any citation in the incident and noted that visibility was limited at the time.
