TROUTDALE, OR (KPTV) -

Hundreds of people gathered in Troutdale Saturday to raise money to fight cancer while enjoying great food and music.

It was the 6th annual Soulful Giving Blanket Concert.

People spread out their blankets across the grass to enjoy listening to four different bands. Food and drink weren't far away as there were 14 restaurants, along with wine, beer, cocktails, a raffle, and a silent auction.

The event took place along the Sandy river and was put on by Junki Yoshida and his wife.

Yoshida believes active fundraising is necessary to find a cure for cancer. "It's no accident. You have to pump the money into research. And at the same time take care of children. I look at it as revenge, but I turn that anger into a positive."

All of the proceeds from today's event go to Randall Children's Hospital and Providence Cancer Research Center .

Oregon Governor Kate Brown also declared today as Oregon Children's Cancer Awareness Day.
