Although official search efforts have been suspended, a private search party continued the search Monday for a missing Portland hiker in the Mount Jefferson wilderness area.

Robin Zickel, the father of 21-year-old Riley Zickel, said on Facebook on Sunday that a private search team composed of several friends and family members will continue to search for his missing son.

Riley has not been seen since July 27 after he set out on a camping trip alone in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness.

The search party includes several private helicopters, as well as the Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit.

Search efforts resumed Monday morning.

Acting on a tip provided by a private helicopter pilot searching the area, a search team ascended Mount Jefferson to check a crevasse on the Jefferson Glacier.

The searchers said they did not find any sign of Riley Zickel in the area. Crews then turned back because of a snow storm hitting the mountain.

The search tip line remains active, and the Marion County Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information to call 503-584-7724.
