Oregon State Police said a Salem man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 126 Sunday afternoon.
OSP said preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was driving eastbound on Hwy 126 near milepost 19 when it crossed the center line and into the path of a 2007 Toyota Tacoma towing a trailer. The vehicle then moved back into the eastbound lane but police said the driver of the Toyota lost control while trying to avoid a collision.
The Toyota crashed into an embankment, collided with a few trees and rolled over.
The driver of the Toyota, Kermit N. Lilse, 64, was pronounced dead on scene.
OSP said the driver of the other vehicle continued driving but was found a short time later. The driver, Leslie A. Wright, 64, of Wilder, Idaho, is cooperating with the investigation.
