SEAL ROCK, OR (KPTV) -

The Oregon Health Authority issued a Health Advisory Wednesday for the water at Seal Rock State Park beach, one day after issuing an advisory for Rockaway Beach.

According to the OHA, the ocean waters at the beach show higher-than-normal levels of fecal bacteria, which can lead to diarrhea, stomach cramps, skin rashes, upper respiratory infections and other illnesses.

The OHA advises visitors to avoid direct contact with the water until the advisory is lifted, adding that groups more vulnerable to illness from bacteria like the elderly and children need to take extra precaution.

As with past advisories, the OHA recommends that people avoid wading in nearby creeks, water pools on the beach, water runoff flowing into the ocean of discolored water.

More information including the latest status on the active advisories is available on the Oregon Beach Monitoring Program website.
