PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 57-year-old man was found dead at a north Portland motel and police are calling his death suspicious.

Officers responded to the Super Value Inn on the 5200 block of North Interstate Avenue at 2:27 p.m. Monday.  A motel staff member discovered the man's body in a room.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene along with criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division and the medical examiner, as the circumstances in the room were described by officers as "suspicious in nature."

On Thursday, police identified the man as Brian Lloyd Littrell. Investigators said he had no home address, but is believed to have lived in the Portland area for many years.

The cause of death remains undetermined.

A 2011 photo of Littrell was released Thursday to aid in the investigation.
