BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Beaverton police are searching for a woman who stole a purse from outside a Tanasbourne gym last month and has been using the victim’s identity since to cash checks around town.

Megan Byma said she was at a Zumba class at the LA Fitness location in Hillsboro in late July when the theft happened.

She told police that when she came outside she found her car windows smashed and her purse gone.

Byma canceled all of her credit cards, but her husband Nicky said whoever stole the purse still managed to steal from his wife.

"She just decimated our account and got away with a lot," Nicky said. "With nothing more than a driver's license and a canceled bank card, she completely wiped out our account and then some, it's terrifying."

Surveillance photos from Unitus Credit Union in July show snapshots of the woman with blond hair, only for different images to later show her with brown hair.

Investigators said the woman has tried to use other victims’ identities as well. Police said she is in her late 20s, has a distinct missing tooth on the upper right side of her mouth and was seen driving a dark gray Nissan Quest without license plates.

Beaverton police ask that anyone with information on these thefts to please call the non-emergency line at 503-629-0111.
