ALBANY, OR (KPTV) -

Two separate crashes occurred on I-5 north of Albany Friday afternoon, leading to a major backup in the northbound lanes of the freeway.

According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, one of the crashes involved a jack-knifed semi truck and a U-Haul truck and resulted in at least 200 gallons of diesel spilled on the road.

ODOT said there were injuries in the collision, but it wasn't immediately clear how many or their extent.

Officials said all northbound lanes of I-5 were closed due to the crashes and traffic was backed up for almost 15 miles. All lanes of the freeway were back open by approximately 2 p.m.

Drivers should continue to expect delays as traffic returns to normal.
