Portland police arrest man with loaded handgun, drugs

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A convicted felon is out of jail after being arrested with a gun and cocaine.

Officers with the Portland Police Bureau’s Gang Enforcement Team arrested 32-year-old Derek Conley after finding him sitting in a parked car at Southeast 117th Avenue and Oak Street late Wednesday night.

Conley gave police permission to search him and his car, and officers found a loaded handgun in his pants pocket, as well as a small amount of cocaine.

Officers then learned Conley is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms.

He was booked into Multnomah County Jail on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of cocaine. Conley was released on pre-trial supervision.
