Police, Crime Stoppers seeking help in finding kidnapping, sexual assault suspect

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Police and Crime Stoppers of Oregon are seeking the public’s help in finding a suspect accused of kidnapping, shooting and sexually assaulting a woman in Portland in July.

Officials said 42-year-old Anthony David Stone allegedly kidnapped, sexually assaulted and shot a woman in Southeast Portland on July 1.

According to a witnesses, Stone drove up to a curb near Southeast 88th and Powell Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. and held a 41-year-old woman and her male companion at gunpoint. Stone allegedly demanded the woman get into his car.

Police found a possible suspect vehicle in the area of Southeast 92nd and Holgate Boulevard, but the car quickly sped away.

At 3:35 a.m., officers responded to the area of Southeast 43rd Avenue and Woodward Street on the report that a woman had been shot and previously kidnapped.

When police arrived, they determined that this woman was the same 41-year-old woman that was reported kidnapped a few hours earlier.

Stone fled on foot across the Hawthorne Bridge was able to elude police.

Police believe Stone fled to the East Coast. He is described as a black male, 5’9” tall and 230 pounds.

Crime Stoppers of Oregon offers cash rewards for information that leads to an arrest in any unsolved felony crime. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
