OREGON CITY, OR (KPTV) -

A grill caused a fire at an Oregon City home nearly four hours after a family used it to prepare food.

Firefighters responded to the 1300 block of Madison Street at 9:46 p.m. Sunday.

They arrived to find substantial flames coming from the home. The fire spread to void spaces and eventually the attic.

Firefighters had it under control within 15 minutes and fully extinguished two hours later.

The homeowners said they had shut off their grill four hours earlier. Investigators said it is not known how the grill rekindled and started the fire.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Clackamas fire crews then responded to another fire in the Damascus area at 11:03 p.m. Acetylene tanks caught fire in a shop used for welding on the 25000 block of Southeast Sunshine Valley Road. Firefighters were at the scene for more than 2 ½ hours. The cause is under investigation and nobody was hurt.
