Person of interest in Coos Bay homicide has connections to Salem, Washington

COOS BAY, OR (KPTV) -

A person of interest in a Coos Bay homicide investigation has connections to Salem and Bonney Lake, Washington, according to investigators.

Deputies responded to a report of a body in the front yard of a home on the 63000 block of Ross Inlet Road at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The man died of homicidal violence, according to deputies, and he was identified Monday as 64-year-old Richard Perkins.

Perkins lived at the home where he was found with his nephew, 36-year-old Lucas Mark Perkins.

Lucas Perkins was identified by deputies as a person of interest in the case. His current location is unknown.

Investigators said he has relatives or associates in Salem and Bonney Lake, Washington. Coos County deputies have been in contact with law enforcement in those locations in their effort to locate Lucas Perkins.

He may be driving a 2012 Mazda MZ3 four-door hatchback with Oregon plates 401FXN. The car is silver or gray in color.

Anyone with information about Lucas Perkins' location is asked to contact law enforcement. People are advised not to attempt to contact him, but instead just alert police about his location.

Anyone with other information about this investigation is encouraged to contact the Coos County Sheriff's Office.
