COOS BAY, OR (KPTV) -

The nephew of a man who was killed in Coos Bay has been arrested in Seattle and is now facing murder charges.

The Coos County District Attorney's Office was informed Wednesday that Lucas Mark Perkins, 36, was taken into custody a short distance from where his bank card had been used Sunday and Monday in Seattle.

A material witness warrant was obtained for Perkins out of Coos County. Police identified him as a person of interest in the homicide investigation of his uncle, 64-year-old Richard Perkins.

On Wednesday, Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier said Lucas Perkins would be charged with murder for death of his uncle.

Richard Perkins was found dead in the front yard of his Coos Bay home on the 63300 block of Ross Inlet Road on Sunday morning. Detectives said he was bludgeoned to death with a blunt object.

Investigators said Lucas Perkins has connections to Salem and Bonney Lake, Washington. On Tuesday, police received information that he was in Seattle. Now, Coos County officials will seek his extradition back to Oregon.
