PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An ice cream shop in north Portland got a little bit flooded from the water being used to fight a fire at a nearby apartment complex that was under construction.

The owner of The Portland Ice Cream Company on N. Killingsworth Street said what woke him up was the news of the fire early Wednesday.

"I got a phone call this morning from some roommates, 'Oh are you watching Channel 12? The place next door to your building is burning down' … so I sped down here and I was a little bit worried but it looks like the Portland Fire Bureau did a great job in saving my building," said owner Michael Shillingford.

Shillingford said his back patio and food cart are a bit melted, but the ice cream and freezer are just fine.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
