DESCHUTES COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Crews made progress overnight on a wildfire that is burning in Deschutes County close to Sunriver.

Fire officials said Wednesday night that the Sheridan Fire was located about 1.5 miles west of Sunriver and was about 360 acres in size.

Thursday morning fire officials said the fire had shrunk to about 169 acres and is 10 percent contained.

The fire is burning predominately in lodgepole pine forested terrain, according to firefighters. Crews worked through the night to complete dozer lines and conduct burnout operations.

Officials said the fire started  Wednesday near the junction of Forest Roads 40 and 45, about two miles west of Sunriver. It spread to the south and southwest.

Crews plan to focus their firefighting efforts on the southeast flank. They say the fire has the potential to move southeast.

A Level 1 Evacuation is in effect for properties near Fall River Fish Hatchery and Fall River Estates.

Deschutes County officials said a youth camp was also evacuated Wednesday.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
