PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Fire crews throughout the Portland metro area had their hands busy with multiple fires Friday morning.

Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a garage fire on Southeast 138th Avenue around 1:38 a.m.

A row of five detached garages caught fire for an unknown reason, according to officials.

Crews also responded to a small fire at the Masala Box restaurant on West Arlington Street in Gladstone shortly before 6 a.m.

Around the same time, Portland firefighters were dispatched to Northwest 29th Avenue on reports of a small grass fire near Forest Park.

Portland fire crews battled an apartment fire in the 1800 block of North Argyle Street around 7 a.m. The fire was contained to one unit but crews said one dog was killed.

There is no word yet on any other injuries.

Record-breaking temperatures are expected Friday and Saturday, which can create dangerous fire conditions. Multiple burn bans have been issued throughout the area.
