LAKE OSWEGO, OR (KPTV) -

Stop-motion animators took MORE into the world of “Kubo and the Two Strings.”

The action adventure tells the story of a Japanese boy who goes on a quest to save his family. Throughout his journey, he battles monsters and mythical creatures. The film brought together a star studded cast, including Oscar winners Matthew McConaughey, the voice of “Beetle” and Charlize Theron as the voice of “Monkey.”

LAIKA Animation Supervisor Brad Schiff says it took 400 people including production crews, set and character designers and animators to bring Kubo’s world to life.

The film is LAIKA’s most personal project and created at the studio from start to finish. The intimate family story was not only written by a LAIKA employee, but resonated with many of the artists.

During the set tour, Schiff reveals the real life puppets and the magical sets LAIKA created.

“Kubo and the Two Strings” hits theaters Friday.
