OTIS, OR (KPTV) -

A man died after hitting a tree, crashing down an embankment and hitting another tree in Otis.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police responded to Bear Creek Road in Otis at 10:50 a.m. Thursday.

Investigators said Douglas Buxton, 42, of Kernville, was driving his Ford Ranger pickup south on the road when he failed to negotiate a curve at Milepost 2.

His vehicle left the roadway and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Buxton was not wearing a seat belt, as the driver's side seat belt had been removed from the truck, and he was partially ejected from the pickup.

An alcoholic beverage container was found in the area of the crash, according to deputies, but it is unknown at this time if intoxicants were a factor in the crash.
