Car hits gas meter in SE Portland, crews test air quality

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Crews were testing the air quality in businesses and homes in southeast Portland on Saturday morning after a car hit a gas meter.

The crash occurred at Southeast 143rd Avenue and Stark Street. Portland Fire & Rescue crews were at the scene around 7:30 a.m.

Stark Street was shut down from 141st Avenue to 146th Avenue. The road had reopened by 10 a.m.

Firefighters said the air quality was fine and did not pose a threat due to the crash. 

The driver was taken to the hospital as a trauma patient. 

No other details were immediately available about the crash.
