MILWAUKIE, OR (KPTV) -

A man responsible for setting fire to an apartment in Milwaukie on Saturday has been identified.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ben Frazier said Javonni Deshawn Matthew, 23, was arrested and charged with arson in the first degree, harassment, and a parole violation detainer.

Fire crews responded to the 8100 block of Southeast Lake Road to find a fire burning in an apartment, but the front door was barricaded from inside.

Once firefighters made their way in, the fire was quickly contained to a single unit. A total of 32 apartments were evacuated, however.

One elderly woman was helped out of an apartment adjacent to the fire. Two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police said Matthew lives in the home where the fire was started.

On Monday, a no complaint order was issued on the charges, meaning they have been dropped for the time being. A district attorney's office spokesperson said the investigation is continuing and charges are still possible in this case.

Matthew remains in jail on a parole violation detainer.
