CORVALLIS, OR (KPTV) -

A door-to-door magazine salesman from Mississippi is accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl in Benton County.

Laderrick Monquell McCray, 20, of Mississippi, was arrested Sunday and booked into the Benton County Jail on the charge of harassment.

However, court documents state he is also facing more serious charges including rape.

A Corvallis woman called police Sunday to report a door-to-door magazine seller who was "very pushy and flirtatious." The woman said McCray put his arm around her back and led her away from the doorway of her home.

He then insisted that she let him go inside the home with her, according to police, but the woman refused.

"His demeanor and comments made the victim uncomfortable and concerned for her personal safety," according to a Corvallis police report.

McCray left after the woman went back inside, locked the door and called police.

Based on the woman's description of the suspect, McCray was located and arrested on the charge of harassment.

According to court documents, McCray is accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl Saturday in a separate incident.

McCray was arraigned in court Monday on multiple charges including first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and second-degree sexual abuse.

Court documents state the girl was "incapable of consent by reason of mental incapacitation and/or physical helplessness."

Prosecutors said the abuse occurred in Philomath and McCray was working as a door-to-door salesman at the time.

McCray pleaded not guilty Monday. His bail was set at $500,000 and his next court hearing was scheduled for Thursday.

Investigators said McCray does not appear to have any ties to Oregon, other than selling magazines.

Last week, a woman selling magazines in Wilsonville was arrested after police said she burglarized two homes. The 18-year-old told investigators she was part of a crew staying at a motel in Wilsonville.

Police have not said if the two suspects are connected.
