Camas football coach walks from Seaside to San Diego

CAMAS, WA (KPTV) -

It took Dale Rule 40 days to complete the 1,300 mile trek from Seaside to San Diego. Though it was physically and mentally exhausting, he says the toughest fight was over.

Rule struggled with his weight for a decade. After seeing a photo of himself in 2009, he decided to make a change. The Camas High School football coach, then 360 pounds, walked every day and lost 140 pounds in one year.

Since then, he has dedicated his time to raising awareness about obesity and encouraging others to move. In June, Dale set out on his journey from Seaside, through the hills of the Red Woods and into Northern and Southern California. He arrived In San Diego on August 1st.

Rule talked to MORE about his experiences and his non-profit Everyone Walk. He hopes to build athletic parks with walking paths and sports facilities through $1.50 month pledges.
