OLYMPIA, WA (KPTV) -

The sale of hunting and fishing licenses has been temporarily suspended in Washington due to a cybersecurity breach.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife announced Wednesday that it was working with the Washington State Office of CyberSecurity on the issue.

Wildlife officials said the situation has been linked to an outside vendor's license sale system that was recently exploited in several states, allowing access to some personal information provided by customers who purchased hunting and fishing licenses.

Investigators from multiple agencies are working to determine how much information was compromised.

"WDFW is working to resume license sales as soon as it can ensure the security of the system," according to a statement from the agency.
