Police: Man arrested after throwing explosive under motorhome in SE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 46-year-old man was arrested after he threw an explosive underneath an occupied motorhome in southeast Portland on Wednesday.

Portland police said they responded to the report located at Southeast 160th Avenue and Division Street around 5 a.m.

Officers arrived and found an unexploded device under the motorhome parked on the side of the street.

The Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit (MEDU) arrived to the location and safely collected the device.

The suspect was not found in the area.

Around 5:59 p.m., an officer was in the same area on an unrelated matter when the victim from the morning told the officer that the suspect was in the area.

Officers contacted the suspect, Jeremy Patrick Kidwell. After a short investigation, officers arrested Kidwell.

Kidwell was taken to the Detective Division where Arson Investigators continued the investigation into the incident.

Kidwell was booked into jail on charges of manufacturing a destructive device, possession of a destructive device and arson in the first degree.
