PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 17-year-old from Portland was arrested Thursday on attempted murder charges stemming from a shooting in the parking lot of a Happy Valley church last week.

Todd Petrie Jr. was arrested without incident by officers with Happy Valley Police, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Taskforce.

The shooting occurred at the New Hope Church on Southeast Stevens Road on August 17. When officers arrived around 8:15 p.m. they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, later identified as Frank Nifon, 18, was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Petrie was taken to the Donald E. Long Detention Center in Portland on a charge of attempted murder, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence under the voter-approved Measure 11.
